There's an interesting article appearing in today's NY Times telling of the changes that may be coming to Little Cottonwood Canyon and its avalanche control blasting (using 105-mm Korean War vintage weaponry), a practice that has been employed in the canyon for some 60 years--and one that is likely to end after this ski season. Another Utah-related story hitting the wires today, also rather compelling for those who drink beer, tells of how Utah is on the verge of doing away with its obscure liquor membership clause, which basically is a inconvenient oddity.
