General Summary: The Sales Associate/Ski Tech position is responsible for providing a complete shopping experience for DPS customers in our Salt Lake City, UT store. The Associate is responsible for the areas of fitting skis while communicating the DPS message, helping at DPS events, local marketing, store merchandising, adjusting/mounting skis, and tuning. Essential Job Functions: Customer Service and Sales -Greet all customers promptly and courteously as they enter the store. -Utilize the tools and training provided by the company to develop selling and service skills, resulting in long-term customer relationships and increased sales. -Direct customers throughout the store or to the specific area the customer requests. -Determine the specific needs of each person that enters the store and provide appropriate service. -Give accurate information about the product for all inquiries; if the correct information is not at hand. -Increase the customer base by adding new customers to the mailing list. -Accurately enter orders and reservations into the DPS system. -Handle returns in an organized manner. -Maintain a positive attitude. -Understand the DPS message and use this philosophy in all customer interaction. -Apply the above standards to all phone inquiries. Ski Tuning -Check in/out equipment per customer reservations. -Properly adjusting bindings to safely fit a customer’s boot. -Fully check for any ski damage after a ski is returned. -Properly fix any damage to the equipment. Merchandising and Maintenance -Check stock daily and restock when necessary to ensure that all products are available for customers; if stock is not currently available offer to put their name on a wait list and to call them when product is available. -Perform store duties: folding, hanging, and displaying product. -Maintain store image by adhering to the dress guidelines. -Maintain a clean and well-organized back-stock area. -Vacuum, sweep floors, and empty all trash each day if required. Operations -Report to work on time or notify in advance if absent or late. -Be consistently accurate in money handling. -Use correct procedures for processing orders and rentals. -Know and utilize the procedures for processing paperwork for the store. -Practice security measures that help prevent theft; understand the procedures for handling shoplifters. Training and Employee Development -Participate in all required DPS employee training, including product training. -Be proactive in your ongoing education regarding the company, weekly reports, sales meetings, products, and the outdoor retail business. Physical Requirements: -Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time. -Ability to perform store maintenance items: sweep, vacuum, empty trash, clean. -Ability to safely lift boxes up to 50 lbs. Minimum Job Qualifications: -Excellent customer service and sales skills. -Previous retail or related customer service experience. -Excellent computer skills. -1+ years of Ski Technician experience. -Excellent organizational skills. -Accuracy and attention to detail. -Effective communication skills. -Self-motivated. -Previous experience within the ski industry a plus. -College degree preferred.
