DPS Thrives in Powder Magazine's Fantasy Draft

Salt Lake City, UT, (September 19, 2011) – DPS Skis, the world’s leader in pure carbon fiber ski manufacturing, is proud to announce that three ski models have been chosen in the coveted Powder Magazine’s Skier Choice Fantasy Draft. Fifteen accomplished skiers from around the United Sates gathered for a week of rigorous ski testing at Wyoming’s Jackson Hole Mountain Resort last March. The test featured over 30 global ski brands showcasing more than 200 skis new to the 2011-12 season. Each tester was asked to build a dream ski quiver from four categories: Powder, All-Mountain, Park and Dream Trip. The DPS Wailer 112RP Pure, DPS Wailer 105 Pure, and DPS Lotus 138 Pure were all chosen as winners. All of DPS’ Pure construction skis employ exclusive aerospace technology that makes them 30 percent lighter and 30 percent torsionally stiffer than conventional constructions. The end result are skis that are strong, light and powerful—the perfect combination. “We are thrilled to have three models selected in Powder’s draft,” said Stephan Drake, founder of DPS Skis. “They were chosen by accomplished skiers who test the full capacity of each ski. Our excellent showing is a testament to DPS’ craftsmanship and years of continual research and development with materials, shaping, and construction that went into  these models.” The Wailer 112RP Pure won the Skier’s Choice Award for Powder selection. The Wailer 112RP is arguably the most versatile ski ever built and combines the loose and early planing feel of a fully rockered ski with aggressive sidecut and slight camber. It handles powder, crud, and groomers with playfulness and ease. The Skier’s Choice Award for All-Mountain selection went to the Wailer 105 Pure.  The Wailer 105 is an ultra-light, everyday shape that excels on both sides of the rope. The Lotus 138 Pure won the Skier’s Choice Award for Dream Trip selection. The Lotus 138 is the first rockered ski with sidecut ever built. It’s a powder-specific shape with unmatched reaction, float, playfulness--and extremely light. This ski is designed for deep snow and has been tested all over the world. About DPS DPS Skis, a ski industry leader, is located at the base of the Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake City.
