Wailer 112RP2 TOUR1

Overview

Touring skis are traditionally 60-80mm toothpicks designed for fast ascents and regimented skin tracks. Well, the best untracked snow is worth walking for. The award-winning Wailer 112 Tour1 weighs less than most significantly narrower traditional fiberglass touring shapes, but still delivers carbon’s inherent power benefits in deeper and mixed snow. Go strong for days with this legitimately light uphill supercharger, and one of the most soft-snow versatile and easiest skiing shapes in the history of the sport.

Wailer 112RP Reviews from Freeskier Magazine

“Many DPS skis are available in a hybrid (fiberglass/carbon/bamboo) construction as well as the Pure3 that we tested, a lighter, stiffer carbon-and poplar-based sandwich construction with three vertical aluminum ribs. Complete with rockered tip and tail as well as slight camber underfoot, testers praised the Wailer 112RP as “a great all-round ski for pow and variable conditions,” Its playful nature stood out to skiers, who commented, “They’re so easy to turn and whip around,” and “Kept up at speed. Really fun to open up on these.”

“Using DPS’s new Pure3 carbon pre-preg construction, which minimizes weight and waste in the process, the new Wailer 112 got even higher marks than last year. Heavy rocker in the tip and tail, an enormous shovel, and camber underfoot combine to produce one of the most unique powder rides out there. Testers raved about the 112’s ability to instantly initiate turns and change turn radii on the fly. “Super quick edge to edge, one said, “and no effort necessary to schmear mid-turn.” Another said it “has no speed limit and always feels playful.” Criticiums include a lack of dampness on hard snow, and an elusive sweet spot for some “Finicky sweet spot— that’s what she said,” one joked.

“Offers up a fun, playful ride by slashing and spraying turns however you want.”

"A powder pillager that is light enough to haul anywhere.”

Wailer 112RP Review from Powder Magazine

“What I noticed most about this ski during a Granite Canyon lap with a foot of fresh wasn’t so much its excellence in powder, but rather its all-out speed. With a rockered—and tapered—tip and tail, and slight bit of camber, the Wailer flies over the snow with so much ease and determination that the rush it produces should be either very illegal (which is good) or very dangerous (also good). Like most DPS skis, the Wailer 112RP is available in full carbon sandwich construction or a hybrid. The Pure layup reduces the weight of a similarly sized ski by 30 percent, making it the perfect choice for skiers who spend a lot of time sniffing out the powder on long bootpacks or traverses.”

Wailer 112RP Review from Outside Magazine

“DPS makes some lofty claims about the Pure SE, but testers were smitten. The fully tip-and tail-rockered ski floated through everything, while its traditional camber underfoot laid down a reliable edge on hardpack. Its bulbous nose surfed over chop, and true to DPS’s claims, it was one of the most energetic skis we tested. Also available in a cheaper (though heavier) Hybrid…Pricey but tons of fun.”

Wailer 112RP Review from Skiing Magazine

“We tested the ultra lightweight Pure construction of this ski and were flabbergasted by its lightness and ease in powder. Designed to be a resort-use powder ski that can carve groomed run-outs, it lives up to its billing. Radically rockered tips plane over powder and deep chop without blinking. Light, playful, and easy to steer, it will take you through last chair with leg strength to spare.”
